9-day itinerary from Marrakech - Fez - Casablanca

Day 1: Arrival in Marrakech – Guided Tour of the Imperial City

Welcome to Marrakech, the legendary imperial city of Morocco. We will start the day exploring the most iconic historical monuments, such as the majestic Koutoubia Mosque with its impressive minaret, the historic Saadian Tombs and the magnificent Bahia Palace, former residence of the Grand Vizier Ba Ahmed. After a traditional Moroccan lunch, we will enter the bustling souk of Jamaa el Fna, considered the vibrant heart of Marrakech, where we will explore the colorful traditional spice and leather craft markets.

Accommodation in an authentic riad in Marrakech with breakfast included.

Day 2: Marrakech – Essaouira (Coastal City)

Day trip from Marrakech to Essaouira. Departure at 8:00 am. After approximately 3 hours of panoramic driving, we will reach the historic port of Mogador (the old name for Essaouira), built by the Portuguese on a narrow peninsula next to a huge crescent of fine sandy beach. From the top of the Skala you can enjoy panoramic views of the traditional fishing port, the fortresses and the old Spanish cannons.

Perfectly protected by its impressive 18th-century French-built walls, the UNESCO heritage city is mostly pedestrian and is organized into different neighborhoods by its characteristic grid-shaped layout.

Essaouira is also famous for its refined typical Moroccan crafts, especially wooden objects (thuja) interspersed with lemon wood, ebony, mother-of-pearl or copper or silver threads. If you are passionate about Moroccan gastronomy, you will enjoy a tasty meal of fresh fish at the port. Overnight in a traditional riad.

Day 3: Marrakech – Ouarzazate – Skoura – Dades Gorges

Pick up from your hotel or riad in Marrakech or at the airport and start the route through southern Morocco. Departure from Marrakech via the spectacular Col du Tichka mountain pass, where we will cross the majestic mountains of the High Atlas, stopping to enjoy the panoramic views that the route offers and to rest.

We will continue our journey towards Ouarzazate, the gateway to the desert. After enjoying a typical Berber lunch, we will continue our route to the village of Skoura, located in the heart of the Valley of Palms, a vast and labyrinthine oasis, whose lush vegetation surrounds beautiful traditional kasbahs and where we can also visit its famous kasbah.

From here we will continue through the charming Valley of Roses (famous for the cultivation of Damascene roses for perfumes) towards the impressive Dades Valley, where we will visit the spectacular Dades Gorges. Traditional Berber dinner and overnight in accommodation by the Dades River.

Day 4: The Dades Gorges - The Todra Gorges - Merzouga (Erg Chebbi Dunes)

Morning departure along the panoramic routes of southern Morocco to continue towards the town of Tinghir and visit the majestic Toudra Gorges (15 km from Tinghir), with a typical Moroccan lunch on site. In the afternoon, departure towards the historic city of Erfoud passing through the lush palm grove of Tinjdad, the traditional palm grove of Touroug and the authentic city of Erfoud. Visit the fascinating artisan workshop of fossil marble, a unique specialty of the region.

We will then head towards the impressive dunes of Merzouga (Erg Chebbi), one of the most spectacular desert landscapes in Morocco. We will change the vehicles for traditional dromedaries to admire the magical sunset in the Sahara and spend the night in a luxury Berber camp.

Day 5: Merzouga - Excursion through the Sahara Desert

After a traditional Moroccan breakfast, we will take a fascinating 4x4 route through the golden dunes passing by: the two natural oases of Merzouga, the authentic nomadic depot along the desert routes, the cultural village of Khamlia (village of the Gnaua), the historic mines of Mifiss, the impressive desert landscapes, we will have a meeting with authentic Berber desert nomads, and we will visit the exotic oasis of Tissardmine.

We will return to the hostel at around 3:00 pm for an unforgettable evening camel ride to witness the spectacular sunset over the golden dunes. We will spend the night in a wild oasis located 1.30 hours away by foot in the heart of the Sahara Desert.

Day 6: Merzouga – Ziz Valley – Midelt – Azrou – Fez

At around 5:30 a.m. we will get up to enjoy and admire the magical sunrise in the Sahara Desert and capture photographs from a large dune, undoubtedly one of the most spectacular moments of our tour through Morocco.

After a typical Berber breakfast at our luxury camp, we will return by camels to the lodge to shower and then take the road to Fez passing through the impressive Ziz Valley, Errachidia, Midelt to the majestic forest of ancient cedars where we will stop to visit the famous Gouraud cedar.

We will continue our journey through the Middle Atlas until we reach imperial Fez in the afternoon, where we will stay in a traditional riad in the medina.

Day 7: Cultural visit to Fez (Imperial City)

A full day to discover the cultural and historical capital of Morocco . There are many historical monuments to visit: the ancient Medersas (Koranic schools) such as Chahrij , Bou Inania , Attarin , the authentic traditional souks , the Jewish quarter of Fez El-Jedid , the historic Karaouine Mosque (first university in the world). Night in a traditional riad .

Day 8: Fez – Chefchaouen (Blue City)

After breakfast, we will set off towards the picturesque Chefchaouen , known worldwide as the "Blue City of Morocco" . During our tour, we will enjoy the stunning landscapes of the Moroccan Rif . Arrival in Chefchaouen to discover its charming blue alleys , its lively Uta el-Hammam square and its particular Andalusian-Moroccan architecture . Free time to explore the colorful local craft markets and enjoy authentic Rif cuisine . Overnight in a traditional riad in Chefchaouen .

Day 9: Fez -- Casablanca -- Airport

After breakfast, transfer to Casablanca to visit the imposing Hassan II Mosque , one of the largest mosques in the world . Free time for lunch and to enjoy Casablanca cuisine .
